European Remembrance Day for the Victims of Terrorism

Under the umbrella of RAN Practitioners Framework Contract, RadarEurope was responsible for the organisation of the Annual European Remembrance Day for Victims of Terrorism. This commemorative and ceremonial event takes place each year on 11 March to honour and commemorate victims and survivors of terrorism. The high-level event is centred around victims’ testimonials and officials’ speeches.

As 2024 marked the 20th anniversary of the Atocha attacks, which took place on 11 March 2004, leading to the initiation of the Remembrance Day, and therefore also the 20th edition of the Remembrance Day, it took place in Madrid in the presence of their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, ambassadors and EU representatives of 12+ EU Member States, officials, and representatives of international organisations and victims and survivors of terrorism. In total, approx. 225 persons attended the event which was held at the Royal Collections Gallery in Madrid (ES), and in addition it was possible to follow the event via a livestream.

RadarEurope organised this day in the years: 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024. In 2021, the remembrance day could not take place due to Covid.
